The film Sex And The City was released May 28, 2008. There were series on the television to which they made a film. The main characters are Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones), Kristin Davis (Charlotte York), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes). But back to the trailer!! Well the trailer is 46 seconds long so is the normal length of a teaser trailer. Most trailers start with the green screen which states 'the following preview has been approved for all audiences' It then shows the institution 'New Line Cinema' and the network 'HBO' to which the soundtrack then starts which is by Peggy Lee - Fever. Also Newline Cinema comes up in blue but they have made it pink, which shows that the film is girly/chickflick/romcom. It is then an establishing shot of the city with tall buildings possibly New York, and narration starts with Carrie Bradshaw (SJP) talking over the music. It then zooms to a Crane shot of a bridge this is all shot when it is dark, the lights over the bridge are lit up along with the cars and the shot has been speeded up to show that it is a fast moving city and seeing that it is also is a teaser trailer it has to be quick. It then fades into another shot of tall buildings that are all lit up. When Carrie starts talking about friendship there is a longshot of 4 women standing on the street with taxi's driving past. This then goes into a black screen to which there is some dialogue from the film saying 'Hello Lover!' Then there is a flash and diegetic noise of the flash to which the main character is shown in slow motion flicking her hair around, walking towards the camera and in the background is Louis Vuitton to show that this film will include designer fetishes that the characters have. A black screen also shows with the words 'this spring' in pink/purple. There are quick shots of Carrie in a wedding dress spinning and posing with the non-diegetic sound of camera clicks, there is also longshots of Carrie in underwear in her closet putting a shoebox away, this then flashes to a medium shot of the 4 main characters sitting somewhere all looking the same way, there are quick shots of Carrie, the 4 characters walking down a street, then to a birds eye view of Carrie spinning around in a white wedding dress with white flowers and her face shows happiness, after this the shots get very fast and the tempo also matches the quick pace of it to which is it all stops to show a close up of Carrie and a man making out, the music also becomes twinkly to match the romantic scene of the film. This then goes to a black screen showing the title of the Sex and The City and the music starts coming to a dramatic end, and the details of the film release is shown.
And that is my textual analysis of Sex and the City!
Babzyyyy :)
