Our Group Decision!!!

As a group we decided that we would used the genre of romantic comedy.
We deconstructed three magazines, posters and teaser trailers, Babz did rom-com, Emma did comedy and Abby did romantic.
From what we learnt from our textual analysis we thought we could incorporate, yet also challenge the forms and conventions of each one.

TRAILERS
We all found that the teaser trailers were 30seconds-1 minute long.
Most of them had a voice over either throughout or a little bit at the beginning
Depending on what the genre was the clips were similar lengths. However as our teaser trailer is a rom-com, we focused more on the textual analysis that Babz did. She found that some were long and others were short so it varied quite a lot.
The institution logo is shown at the beginning.

POSTERS
They have a main image of the main characters that relates to the film
The shots are longshot/midshot.
They use different sized fonts, the title is normally quite large and stands out.
We found that some posters have the institution logo and the information about who is in the film, who created it etc at the bottom of the magazine but some also don't.
Every poster has a slogan about the film that doesn't give much away and leaves the audience wanting more.

MAGAZINE
Magazines normally have midshots/close ups.
They use different sized fonts for variation and make the magazine look interesting.
The main model image is normally infront of the masthead so that the audience are attracted to the celebrity and buy the magazine to find out about them.
Film magazines normally have quite a simple layout and isn't crowded with cover stories.
