Romantic teaser trailers:)

The teaser trailer Sex and the City opens with the institution of Newline cinema, which automatically suggests a romantic side to the film as this is a common trademark that Newlne cinema have established for themselves through other films such as The Notebook.
The opening scenes clip starts straigh away with Sarah Jessica Parker narrative voice and non diegetic soundtrack. The shots used within the opening scene are establishing shots such as the sanfransisco bridge, showing you where the place is set and also trying to glamourise the place up! The narrator starts with a statement literally straight away ' They say nothing lasts forever'. The non diegetic music then turns upbeat with an orchestral feel as a close up shot is used of the main character(Sarah Jessica Parker) then flashes from frame to frame with each one lasting abot 1--3 seconds. The frames cut quite quickly, to leave you intrigued but to not give much away. The mise-en scene is bright to give off an uplifting vibe. There is no dialogue withinn this teaser trailer, there is simply just the frames. The camera clicking away away is used diegetically, with frames flashing from one to the other and this adds to the pace and excitement of the film. The black screens with the purple/pink writing on booms onto the page then zooms out towards the audience. Again, the ude of mid/close-up shots are used to show clear facial expressions of the characters, long shots to show the outfits in which represent the characters uniqu characters and again with the credits/subtitles shwon at the end. The trailer lasts 48 seconds, well within time of what a normal teaser trailer should be!!

In 'PS I love you' the teaser trailer is made up of 23 frames( the individual clips) and lasts for 30 seconds which is about the average length of a teaser trailer. The first opening scene shows the institution 'warner' as it also does in the horror films (shows the institution). It then flashes onto the next frame which is of one the main characters and then goes onto show the other character. The opening sentence ' My husband was 35, he weren't suppose to die ' automatically gives you a sense of the plot of the film and even though it doesn't give so much away in the the length of the trailer, you already have a gist of it from that one sentence that stands out. Then on the fourth frame, the narrators voice comes in making statements and quotes from the film such as ' Some people stay with us' and ' Long after they've gone' and then goes onto introducing the film whereby telling us about the producer and what other films have been produced by them for example, ' The devil wears prada' has been made by the same producer. The idea of this film is a love story and having to let go of someone that you love and moving on with your life. The non-diegetic music is the soundtrack of James Blunts song '' which is quite slow and orchestral and something mellowing that you would expect in a romantic/romantic comedy film and the use of James Blunts as the soundtrack, gives you an idea of what the film is about as he is a figure known for his soulfulness. Towards the end of the trailer, all the characters are introduced by the narrator by showing a clip of them in the trailer and then saying their name. This is done to entice the audience and to let them know what they can look forward to. The frames flash from one to the other and even though their is a story behind it, you are still left wondering what happens as they dont give to much away, even though this is to do with the amount of time that the trailer is, the producer still doesn't want to give to much away. The final clip is the narrator telling the audience when the release date is, the title if the film, and then the last remaining credits! The black background at the end with the films title encoded in white is done well as the white lettering stands out from the black background and captures the response of the audience as it is trying to draw the audience into watching it! The shots used throughout range from close ups, mid close up shots, longshots and establishing shots. The close up shots are used to show emotion and more intense facial expressions such as when shes standing in a field and shes hugging a letter, the camera then zooms into her face where she shows a facial expression of happiness and this is clear. The mid close up shots are used for when she she lying on the sofa to give you more of a sense of the mise-en-scene as it shows her on her own lying on the sofa and looking unhappy and then again when shes reading some of the letters as a look of puzzlement appears on face and this is seen clearly because of the mid closeup shot. Also, when the characters are being introduced at the end of the trailer, mid close up shots are being used here to. The long shot is used when shes running round the corner as it shows her flustered and her in full view from head to toe as the mise-en-scene portrays her as rushing around, slightly unorganised with bags in either hand. Theestablishing shots are used to give youa sense of location. Within this teaser trailer, two establishing shots are used, one of a maybe a city hotel or something and the second of brooklyn bridge.
