Life size for you

Howdy everyone its tifani here, i thought that i would give you an analysis of the opening two minutes of the movie Life size :D

The movie life size is about a girl who accidently brings her doll to life while trying to cast a spell to resurrect her mother. Life size is one of the many films made by the company disney.

The opening credits of life size, which features the title is written in cartoon styled writing. This already indicates to the viewer what genre the film will be and also gives the movie a sense of fun. Also the music that is being played in the background is very playful. It starts quite and gets louder, alongside this the writing also comes smaller but grows in size.
We wanted to incorperate this into our final peice as we also wanted our titles to be in cartoon styled writing. I think this will attract our target audience because the opening of a film is very important especially with children as they tend to get bored quicker, so having the title in cartoon gives the movie a sense of fun.

For the first minute of the movie we are just able to see the barbies being controlled by someone. This indicates straight away to the audience what kind of movie it is and what the movie may be about. We see the barbie in various locations such as at the mall, at home, at the beach. In the opening first minte with the barbie there is a lot of fast cutting from the barbies different location, this adds excitement and also gives the movie a fun atmosphere.

The music that is being used in the opening music is non diegetic and also parallel to the moving image because it sounds like a young girl singing and its very playful.
During the first minute of the movie there is a voice over the music of a man talking, it is done very commercial like, as if he was selling the barbies.
Whilst showing the barbies at different location of the playset it does this with fast cutting, this gives the shots a sense of fun. Also it could symbolise the excitement and energy that a child has.

We are then given an establishing that shows us that the next scene will take place outside of a shop. Even when the shots turn to the children the music is still parralel because they still use playul music.
All the shots in the opening two minutes of the film has light lighting, and is shot in the daytime, this symbolises the time for children to be out.
The opening 2 minutes just uses basic medium shots throughout it, this is so that they dont emphasise the different emotions and so that everything is kept neautral.
Whereas if they where to zoom in for a close up on one of the children their emotions could be read differently.
